Palm Hires New SVP of Brand Design

There's a new member of Palm's management team, Jeff Zwerner. He's listed as the Senior Vice President, Brand Design for the company.  Exectrax, a site that monitors such pages, notes that he popped up on the page about a week ago. His role, for those that aren't familiar with "Brand Design," will be to apply

[...] his significant expertise in strategic brand design and management to Palm's global advertising, marketing communications, PR, events and web design.

We figure that if he can understand the branding effects of those crazy Modernista commercials, he'll do alright. Zwerner has a lot of great experience in the industry, having founded the San Francisco branch of Factor Design, where he provided work for "Apple, Coca-Cola, Gap, GE, Hewlett-Packard, L.L. Bean, Nike and the Walt Disney Company."  His bio page at Palm lists numerous awards for the executive as well.

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that Zwerner, according to his LinkedIn page, has twice been in the employ of Apple - once as the Creative Director for Packaging in 2001-2003 and earlier as a Senior Art Director from 1995-1996. Sure, it's probably likely that some large proportion of people who work in Brand Design in California did a stint at Apple at some point, but nevertheless this is one more Palm executive with Apple experience.

Package design might seem like small potatoes, but it has been one area where Apple and Palm have been competing both for elegance and environmental friendliness.

Welcome to the party, Mr. Zwerner! Now that Palm has managed to steer their brand in the right direction with the Pre - we look forward to seeing it kicked into overdrive.
