We appreciated all of the great feedback that you provided us last week about three apps that enhance the way you use your Nokia mobile device. So this week, we want to continue the trend, and share four apps with you that are real award winners! You see, last month at the end of Nokia World (remember that one?), the winners of the 2010 Calling All Innovators contest for developers were revealed. Submissions came in from developers around the world, and they created some really fantastic new apps for use on Nokia devices. Several of those winning apps are now available in the Store, and others will be there soon!
First up is BlogRadio, which was the winner in the Productivity category for the contest. This innovative app can be used to convert the RSS feed from any blog that you like – you’re thinking about this blog, aren’t you? – into an audio podcast that you can take with you on your Nokia touch-enabled device (Symbian OS, S60 5.0) like the Nokia N97 mini. Best of all, the audio quality is very natural and available in a variety of different voices to suit your needs. This short video shows you what BlogRadio does:

BlogRadio is available for $0.99 (USD) in the Store.
The second winner is for anyone who has a creative streak running through them. The app is called Comics Creator, and it was the winner in the Entertainment category of the contest. Developed by the team at India’s Nextwave Multimedia, this free application gives you an easy way to create cartoons directly on your Nokia smartphone. Even if you aren’t an artist – or cartoonist! – you can use this app and create really fun results.
Now, on a slightly more practical note, we have TripSketch Green Traveler, which offers you all of the information you can possibly need about the eco-friendly side of travel and visiting new cities. You could even use it in your own city, I suppose. This app was the winner in Eco/Being Green category of the contest, and it is easy to see why. The app provides offers eco-savvy tips and guidance about hotels, dining, attractions and more for 79 different cities in the United States, Canada and Europe. This app from the U.S.-based TripSketch Corp. is available in the Store for $1.99 (USD).
Finally, we have our winner from the Life Improvement category of the contest, which is an educational app for children called eLiteracy. This app was developed by the South African company AppCRAFT, and it offers an adorable way for children to learn the basics of letters, numbers and more – all from the bright shiny screen of your Nokia mobile device. The app is free in the Store, and proves that it is never too early to share your smartphone with your kids! (Well, maybe it isn’t proof, but you get the idea.)
You want one more? OK, if you insist. This app was a runner-up in the Life Improvement category of Calling All Innovators this year, but don’t let that stop you from checking it out. I’m talking about Medica, which might just be the easiest way to keep track of medicines or prescriptions directly from your Nokia smartphone. The app is only $2.99 (USD) in the Store, and that seems like a small price to pay for an app can actually help you maintain your health.
