Hi, I’m Mike Man and I work in Ovi marketing. When I first heard that Nokia was going to partner with Rihanna in the launch of her fourth album, “Rated R”, I had to bite my tongue to keep from shouting from the rooftop before it was publicly announced. Getting to work on the Rihanna partnership is by far one of the most exciting experiences I’ve had in my career.
The live album launch event was amazing. Young Jeezy’s appearance was a definite plus, but Jay-Z’s surprise appearance was phenomenal. Best thing is that all of the clips are viewable at www.nokia.com/rihanna. The worst thing is my co-worker Gordon’s rendition of Russian Roulette,. There’s something unsettling about a man singing Rihanna music in falsetto.
The best part of the Rihanna partnership for me is the Rihanna App available at the Store. It’s a widget that feeds you all of the latest news from Rihanna. You can preview her new album and preview some of the album’s music videos; if you like what you see/hear, you can download them straight from the Music Store (if available in your country). Aside from the Biography outlining how Rihanna became Rihanna, my favorite piece of the Rihanna App are the Outtake videos, getting to see a more candid Rihanna than the perfection we usually see.
Rihanna’s also bringing something else to the Store, which I’m going to love, but relating to my previous comment about keeping things to myself, I’ve probably said more than I should have.
Check out the app at store.ovi.com/publisher/rihanna, but please think of those around you before singing your own rendition of Russian Roulette – this means you Gord!
Now, get downloading!
