Verizon Wireless Increases Wireless Broadband Capacity in Southern Tier

BINGHAMTON, N.Y., Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today it has increased wireless broadband capacity on its Southern Tier network. The additional capacity, added to four cell sites in Broome, Chemung and Steuben Counties, will help the company stay ahead of the growing demand for wireless Internet access as more of its customers switch to smartphones and adopt wireless data services including MobileBroadband, the company's high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. This is in addition to the 3G capacity that was added to more than 20 local sites in June. Verizon Wireless launched its MobileBroadband service in the Binghamton-Elmira-Corning area in December 2006.
